അവരുടെ കൈവശമുള്ള വേദത്തെ ശരിവെക്കുന്ന ഒരു ഗ്രന്ഥം (ഖുര്‍ആന്‍) അല്ലാഹുവിങ്കല്‍ നിന്ന്‌ അവര്‍ക്ക്‌ വന്നുകിട്ടിയപ്പോള്‍ (അവരത്‌ തള്ളിക്കളയുകയാണ്‌ ചെയ്തത്‌). അവരാകട്ടെ (അത്തരം ഒരു ഗ്രന്ഥവുമായി വരുന്ന പ്രവാചകന്‍ മുഖേന) അവിശ്വാസികള്‍ക്കെതിരില്‍ വിജയം നേടികൊടുക്കുവാന്‍ വേണ്ടി മുമ്പ്‌ (അല്ലാഹുവിനോട്‌) പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കാറുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവര്‍ക്ക്‌ സുപരിചിതമായ ആ സന്ദേശം വന്നെത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ അവരത്‌ നിഷേധിക്കുകയാണ്‌ ചെയ്തത്‌. അതിനാല്‍ ആ നിഷേധികള്‍ക്കത്രെ അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ ശാപം.(89)
(89) وَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ كِتَابٌ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ مُصَدِّقٌ لِمَا مَعَهُمْ وَكَانُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ مَا عَرَفُوا كَفَرُوا بِهِ ۚ فَلَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ
And when there came to them (the Jews), a Book (this Quran) from Allah confirming what is with them [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], although aforetime they had invoked Allah (for coming of Muhammad Peace be upon him) in order to gain victory over those who disbelieved, then when there came to them that which they had recognised, they disbelieved in it. So let the Curse of Allah be on the disbelievers.(89)
