മാതൃകായോഗ്യമായിക്കൊണ്ടും കാരുണ്യമായിക്കൊണ്ടും ഇതിനു മുമ്പ് മൂസായുടെ ഗ്രന്ഥം വന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇത് (അതിനെ) സത്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന അറബിഭാഷയിലുള്ള ഒരു ഗ്രന്ഥമാകുന്നു. അക്രമം ചെയ്തവര്ക്ക് താക്കീത് നല്കുവാന് വേണ്ടിയും, സദ്വൃത്തര്ക്ക് സന്തോഷവാര്ത്ത ആയിക്കൊണ്ടും.(12)
(12) وَمِنْ قَبْلِهِ كِتَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِمَامًا وَرَحْمَةً ۚ وَهَٰذَا كِتَابٌ مُصَدِّقٌ لِسَانًا عَرَبِيًّا لِيُنْذِرَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُحْسِنِينَ
And before this was the Scripture of Musa (Moses) as a guide and a mercy. And this is a confirming Book (the Quran) in the Arabic language, to warn those who do wrong, and as glad tidings to the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112).(12)
