അവര് പറഞ്ഞു: ഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഹിതമനുസരിച്ച് താങ്കളോടുള്ള നിശ്ചയം ലംഘിച്ചതല്ല. എന്നാല് ആ ജനങ്ങളുടെ ആഭരണചുമടുകള് ഞങ്ങള് വഹിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങളത് (തീയില്) എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് സാമിരിയും അപ്രകാരം അത് (തീയില്) ഇട്ടു.(87)
(87) قَالُوا مَا أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَا أَوْزَارًا مِنْ زِينَةِ الْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَاهَا فَكَذَٰلِكَ أَلْقَى السَّامِرِيُّ
They said: "We broke not the promise to you, of our own will, but we were made to carry the weight of the ornaments of the [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh)] people, then we cast them (into the fire), and that was what As-Samiri suggested."(87)
