പശ്ചാത്താപം എന്നത് തെറ്റുകള് ചെയ്ത് കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയും, എന്നിട്ട് മരണം ആസന്നമാകുമ്പോള് ഞാനിതാ പശ്ചാത്തപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് പറയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവര്ക്കുള്ളതല്ല. സത്യനിഷേധികളായിക്കൊണ്ട് മരണമടയുന്നവര്ക്കുമുള്ളതല്ല. അങ്ങനെയുള്ളവര്ക്ക് വേദനയേറിയ ശിക്ഷയാണ് നാം ഒരുക്കിവെച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്.(18)
(18) وَلَيْسَتِ التَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ إِنِّي تُبْتُ الْآنَ وَلَا الَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
And of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil deeds until death faces one of them and he says: "Now I repent;" nor of those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful torment.(18)
