ഒരാള്‍- തന്‍റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളോട്‌ അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു: ഛെ, നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ കഷ്ടം! ഞാന്‍ (മരണാനന്തരം) പുറത്ത്‌ കൊണ്ടവരപ്പെടും എന്ന്‌ നിങ്ങള്‍ രണ്ടുപേരും എന്നോട്‌ വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്യുകയാണോ? എനിക്ക്‌ മുമ്പ്‌ തലമുറകള്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. അവര്‍ (മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍) അല്ലാഹുവോട്‌ സഹായം തേടിക്കൊണ്ട്‌ പറയുന്നു: നിനക്ക്‌ നാശം. തീര്‍ച്ചയായും അല്ലാഹുവിന്‍റെ വാഗ്ദാനം സത്യമാകുന്നു. അപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ പറയുന്നു. ഇതൊക്കെ പൂര്‍വ്വികന്‍മാരുടെ കെട്ടുകഥകള്‍ മാത്രമാകുന്നു.(17)
(17) وَالَّذِي قَالَ لِوَالِدَيْهِ أُفٍّ لَكُمَا أَتَعِدَانِنِي أَنْ أُخْرَجَ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ الْقُرُونُ مِنْ قَبْلِي وَهُمَا يَسْتَغِيثَانِ اللَّهَ وَيْلَكَ آمِنْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَيَقُولُ مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
But he who says to his parents: "Fie upon you both! Do you hold out the promise to me that I shall be raised up (again) when generations before me have passed away (without rising)?" While they (father and mother) invoke Allah for help (and rebuke their son): "Woe to you! Believe! Verily, the Promise of Allah is true." But he says: "This is nothing but the tales of the ancient."(17)
