അവര് പറഞ്ഞു: നീ ഞങ്ങളെ എന്തൊന്നിലേക്ക് വിളിക്കുന്നുവോ അത് മനസ്സിലാക്കാനാവാത്ത വിധം ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങള് മൂടികള്ക്കുള്ളിലാകുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളുടെ കാതുകള്ക്ക് ബധിരതയുമാകുന്നു. ഞങ്ങള്ക്കും നിനക്കുമിടയില് ഒരു മറയുണ്ട്. അതിനാല് നീ പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ച് കൊള്ളുക. തീര്ച്ചയായും ഞങ്ങളും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവരാകുന്നു.(5)
(5) وَقَالُوا قُلُوبُنَا فِي أَكِنَّةٍ مِمَّا تَدْعُونَا إِلَيْهِ وَفِي آذَانِنَا وَقْرٌ وَمِنْ بَيْنِنَا وَبَيْنِكَ حِجَابٌ فَاعْمَلْ إِنَّنَا عَامِلُونَ
And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)."(5)
