സത്യവിശ്വാസികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് ചില പുരുഷന്മാരുണ്ട്. ഏതൊരു കാര്യത്തില് അല്ലാഹുവോട് അവര് ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തുവോ, അതില് അവര് സത്യസന്ധത പുലര്ത്തി. അങ്ങനെ അവരില് ചിലര് (രക്ത സാക്ഷിത്വത്തിലൂടെ) തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രതിജ്ഞ നിറവേറ്റി. അവരില് ചിലര് (അത്) കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. അവര് (ഉടമ്പടിക്ക്) യാതൊരു വിധ മാറ്റവും വരുത്തിയിട്ടില്ല.(23)
(23) مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ ۖ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَىٰ نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ ۖ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلًا
Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah [i.e. they have gone out for Jihad (holy fighting), and showed not their backs to the disbelievers], of them some have fulfilled their obligations (i.e. have been martyred), and some of them are still waiting, but they have never changed [i.e. they never proved treacherous to their covenant which they concluded with Allah] in the least.(23)
