അങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹം മിഹ്റാബില് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് നില്ക്കുമ്പോള് മലക്കുകള് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു: യഹ്യാ (എന്ന കുട്ടി) യെപ്പറ്റി അല്ലാഹു നിനക്ക് സന്തോഷവാര്ത്ത അറിയിക്കുന്നു. അല്ലാഹുവിങ്കല് നിന്നുള്ള ഒരു വചനത്തെ ശരിവെക്കുന്നവനും നേതാവും ആത്മനിയന്ത്രണമുള്ളവനും സദ്വൃത്തരില് പെട്ട ഒരു പ്രവാചകനും ആയിരിക്കും അവന്.(39)
(39) فَنَادَتْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي فِي الْمِحْرَابِ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُبَشِّرُكَ بِيَحْيَىٰ مُصَدِّقًا بِكَلِمَةٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَسَيِّدًا وَحَصُورًا وَنَبِيًّا مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Then the angels called him, while he was standing in prayer in Al-Mihrab (a praying place or a private room), (saying): "Allah gives you glad tidings of Yahya (John), confirming (believing in) the Word from Allah [i.e. the creation of 'Iesa (Jesus), the Word from Allah ("Be!" - and he was!)], noble, keeping away from sexual relations with women, a Prophet, from among the righteous."(39)
