മനുഷ്യര്‍ക്ക്‌ ശിക്ഷ വന്നെത്തുന്ന ഒരു ദിവസത്തെപ്പറ്റി നീ അവര്‍ക്ക്‌ താക്കീത്‌ നല്‍കുക. അക്രമം ചെയ്തവര്‍ അപ്പോള്‍ പറയും: ഞങ്ങളുടെ രക്ഷിതാവേ, അടുത്ത ഒരു അവധി വരെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ നീ സമയം നീട്ടിത്തരേണമേ. എങ്കില്‍ നിന്‍റെ വിളിക്ക്‌ ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഉത്തരം നല്‍കുകയും, ദൂതന്‍മാരെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ പിന്തുടരുകയും ചെയ്തുകൊള്ളാം. നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു (മറ്റൊരു ലോകത്തേക്കു) മാറേണ്ടിവരില്ലെന്ന്‌ നിങ്ങള്‍ സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ലേ? (എന്നായിരിക്കും അവര്‍ക്ക്‌ നല്‍കപ്പെടുന്ന മറുപടി.)(44)
(44) وَأَنْذِرِ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمُ الْعَذَابُ فَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا رَبَّنَا أَخِّرْنَا إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ نُجِبْ دَعْوَتَكَ وَنَتَّبِعِ الرُّسُلَ ۗ أَوَلَمْ تَكُونُوا أَقْسَمْتُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ زَوَالٍ
And warn (O Muhammad SAW) mankind of the Day when the torment will come unto them; then the wrong-doers will say: "Our Lord! Respite us for a little while, we will answer Your Call and follow the Messengers!" (It will be said): "Had you not sworn aforetime that you would not leave (the world for the Hereafter).(44)
