അവര് രണ്ട് പേരില് നിന്ന് രക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നവനാണ് എന്ന് വിചാരിച്ച ആളോട് അദ്ദേഹം (യൂസുഫ്) പറഞ്ഞു: നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കല് നീ എന്നെ പറ്റി പ്രസ്താവിക്കുക. എന്നാല് തന്റെ യജമാനനോട് അത് പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്ന കാര്യം പിശാച് അവനെ മറപ്പിച്ച് കളഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ഏതാനും കൊല്ലങ്ങള് അദ്ദേഹം (യൂസുഫ്) ജയിലില് താമസിച്ചു.(42)
(42) وَقَالَ لِلَّذِي ظَنَّ أَنَّهُ نَاجٍ مِنْهُمَا اذْكُرْنِي عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ فَأَنْسَاهُ الشَّيْطَانُ ذِكْرَ رَبِّهِ فَلَبِثَ فِي السِّجْنِ بِضْعَ سِنِينَ
And he said to the one whom he knew to be saved: "Mention me to your lord (i.e. your king, so as to get me out of the prison)." But Shaitan (Satan) made him forget to mention it to his Lord [or Satan made [(Yusuf (Joseph)] to forget the remembrance of his Lord (Allah) as to ask for His Help, instead of others]. So [Yusuf (Joseph)] stayed in prison a few (more) years.(42)
