ഭൂമിയില് നാശമുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതില് നിന്ന് (ജനങ്ങളെ) തടയുന്ന, (നന്മയുടെ) പാരമ്പര്യമുള്ള ഒരു വിഭാഗം നിങ്ങള്ക്കുമുമ്പുള്ള തലമുറകളില് നിന്ന് എന്തുകൊണ്ട് ഉണ്ടായില്ല? അവരില് നിന്ന് നാം രക്ഷപ്പെടുത്തി എടുത്ത കൂട്ടത്തില് പെട്ട ചുരുക്കം ചിലരൊഴികെ. എന്നാല് അക്രമകാരികള് തങ്ങള്ക്ക് നല്കപ്പെട്ട സുഖാഡംബരങ്ങളുടെ പിന്നാലെ പോകുകയാണ് ചെയ്തത്. അവര് കുറ്റവാളികളായിരിക്കുന്നു.(116)
(116) فَلَوْلَا كَانَ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ أُولُو بَقِيَّةٍ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْفَسَادِ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِمَّنْ أَنْجَيْنَا مِنْهُمْ ۗ وَاتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مَا أُتْرِفُوا فِيهِ وَكَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ
If only there had been among the generations before you, persons having wisdom, prohibiting (others) from Al-Fasad (disbelief, polytheism, and all kinds of crimes and sins) in the earth, except a few of those whom We saved from among them. Those who did wrong pursued the enjoyment of good things of (this worldly) life, and were Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in Allah, polytheists, sinners, etc.).(116)
