നാം ആകാശത്ത്‌ നിന്ന്‌ വെള്ളം ഇറക്കിയിട്ട്‌ അതുമൂലം മനുഷ്യര്‍ക്കും കാലികള്‍ക്കും ഭക്ഷിക്കാനുള്ള ഭൂമിയിലെ സസ്യങ്ങള്‍ ഇടകലര്‍ന്നു വളര്‍ന്നു. അങ്ങനെ ഭൂമി അതിന്‍റെ അലങ്കാരമണിയുകയും, അത്‌ അഴകാര്‍ന്നതാകുകയും, അവയൊക്കെ കരസ്ഥമാക്കാന്‍ തങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ കഴിയുമാറായെന്ന്‌ അതിന്‍റെ ഉടമസ്ഥര്‍ വിചാരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തപ്പോഴതാ ഒരു രാത്രിയോ പകലോ നമ്മുടെ കല്‍പന അതിന്‌ വന്നെത്തുകയും, തലേദിവസം അവയൊന്നും അവിടെ നിലനിന്നിട്ടേയില്ലാത്ത മട്ടില്‍ നാമവയെ ഉന്‍മൂലനം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട അവസ്ഥയിലാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇതുപോലെ മാത്രമാകുന്നു ഐഹികജീവിതത്തിന്‍റെ ഉപമ. ചിന്തിക്കുന്ന ആളുകള്‍ക്കു വേണ്ടി അപ്രകാരം നാം തെളിവുകള്‍ വിശദീകരിക്കുന്നു.(24)
(24) إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَاءٍ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَاخْتَلَطَ بِهِ نَبَاتُ الْأَرْضِ مِمَّا يَأْكُلُ النَّاسُ وَالْأَنْعَامُ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَخَذَتِ الْأَرْضُ زُخْرُفَهَا وَازَّيَّنَتْ وَظَنَّ أَهْلُهَا أَنَّهُمْ قَادِرُونَ عَلَيْهَا أَتَاهَا أَمْرُنَا لَيْلًا أَوْ نَهَارًا فَجَعَلْنَاهَا حَصِيدًا كَأَنْ لَمْ تَغْنَ بِالْأَمْسِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
Verily the likeness of (this) worldly life is as the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, so by it arises the intermingled produce of the earth of which men and cattle eat until when the earth is clad with its adornments and is beautified, and its people think that they have all the powers of disposal over it, Our Command reaches it by night or by day and We make it like a clean-mown harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday! Thus do We explain the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, laws, etc.) in detail for the people who reflect.(24)
