നമ്മുടെ വചനങ്ങള് അവര്ക്ക് ഓതികേള്പിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോള് അവര് പറയും: ഞങ്ങള് കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങള് വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കില് ഇതു (ഖുര്ആന്) പോലെ ഞങ്ങളും പറയുമായിരുന്നു. ഇത് പൂര്വ്വികന്മാരുടെ പഴങ്കഥകളല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നുമല്ല.(31)
(31) وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا قَالُوا قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هَٰذَا ۙ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
And when Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to them, they say: "We have heard this (the Quran); if we wish we can say the like of this. This is nothing but the tales of the ancients."(31)
