യാതൊരു വിശ്വാസിക്കും മറ്റൊരു വിശ്വാസിയെ കൊല്ലാന്‍ പാടുള്ളതല്ല; അബദ്ധത്തില്‍ വന്നുപോകുന്നതല്ലാതെ. എന്നാല്‍ വല്ലവനും ഒരു വിശ്വാസിയെ അബദ്ധത്തില്‍ കൊന്നുപോയാല്‍ (പ്രായശ്ചിത്തമായി) ഒരു വിശ്വാസിയായ അടിമയെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുകയും, അവന്‍റെ (കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടവന്‍റെ) അവകാശികള്‍ക്ക്‌ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം നല്‍കുകയുമാണ്‌ വേണ്ടത്‌. അവര്‍ (ആ അവകാശികള്‍) അത്‌ ഉദാരമായി വിട്ടുതന്നെങ്കിലൊഴികെ. ഇനി അവന്‍ (കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടവന്‍) നിങ്ങളോട്‌ ശത്രുതയുള്ള ജനവിഭാഗത്തില്‍ പെട്ടവനാണ്‌; അവനാണെങ്കില്‍ സത്യവിശ്വാസിയുമാണ്‌ എങ്കില്‍ സത്യവിശ്വാസിയായ ഒരു അടിമയെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുക മാത്രമാണ്‌ വേണ്ടത്‌. ഇനി അവന്‍ (കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടവന്‍) നിങ്ങളുമായി സഖ്യത്തിലിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ജനവിഭാഗത്തില്‍ പെട്ടവനാണെങ്കില്‍ അവന്‍റെ അവകാശികള്‍ക്ക്‌ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം നല്‍കുകയും വിശ്വാസിയായ ഒരു അടിമയെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതാണ്‌. വല്ലവന്നും അത്‌ സാധിച്ച്‌ കിട്ടിയില്ലെങ്കില്‍ തുടര്‍ച്ചയായി രണ്ടുമാസം നോമ്പനുഷ്ഠിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്‌. അല്ലാഹു നിശ്ചയിച്ച പശ്ചാത്താപ (മാര്‍ഗ) മാണത്‌. അല്ലാഹു എല്ലാം അറിയുന്നവനും യുക്തിമാനുമാകുന്നു.(92)
(92) وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ أَنْ يَقْتُلَ مُؤْمِنًا إِلَّا خَطَأً ۚ وَمَنْ قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَأً فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَصَّدَّقُوا ۚ فَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّ لَكُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ ۖ وَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ مِيثَاقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ ۖ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ تَوْبَةً مِنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
It is not for a believer to kill a believer except (that it be) by mistake, and whosoever kills a believer by mistake, (it is ordained that) he must set free a believing slave and a compensation (blood money, i.e. Diya) be given to the deceased's family, unless they remit it. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you and he was a believer; the freeing of a believing slave (is prescribed), and if he belonged to a people with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance, compensation (blood money - Diya) must be paid to his family, and a believing slave must be freed. And whoso finds this (the penance of freeing a slave) beyond his means, he must fast for two consecutive months in order to seek repentance from Allah. And Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise.(92)
